Color Matching:
At Metropolis, urethanes can be color matched to your color chip or PMS #. Most matches are of solid colors. Some metallic colors are available but streaking and flow lines are common and often unpredictable.
Most color matched parts have a light texture such as MT 11010- 020. Heavier textures are no problem. Gloss is generally a bit lower than injection molded Polypropylene or polished ABS. If high gloss is desired, we recommend painting with an automotive grade base and clear urethane; our paint department can accomplish this in-house.
While cast in color has some advantages, such as no post mold painting, and chip resistance, there are a few limitations. Bright white may not be possible if the base material is a "natural" or "amber" color. Highly translucent colors do not work if the base resin is not translucent to begin with. We can advise you in these areas. Generally speaking, highly transparent materials cost about 20% more because of their extended cure times and the likelihood of cosmetic flaws in the cast parts. However, because of their current popularity, we do quite a bit of translucent casting work and can create excellent results. The additional time and effort are absolutely worth the often spectacular results.
